February 22, 2025 to February 23, 2025
This workshop brings together scholars and artists exploring new methodologies and historiographical approaches in Partition Studies. Presentations will address memorialisation and ethical practices; the intersection of the creative, visual and historiographical; narrative method; material culture; neglected stories and communities in the larger Partition story; and the impact of digital tools on Partition historiography. By bringing together scholars from different disciplines, this workshop aims to critically engage with how Partition is studied, remembered, and taught today – and lay out approaches for the future.
The workshop is organised by the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS), LUMS, in collaboration with the Centre for Migration Studies and the Department of History, University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, and Royal Holloway, University of London, UK, with support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
The organisers are Dr. Anne Murphy (UBC), Dr. Sarah Ansari (Royal Holloway), and Dr. Nadhra Shahbaz Khan (LUMS).To register for the workshop, please click here.
