During his visit, Mr. Salim met with Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS, to learn more about the university’s role in developing skilled professionals and conducting impactful research. Their discussion focused on how HBL and LUMS can work together to create more opportunities for students and drive positive change.

Dr. Cheema emphasised the university’s focus on real-world impact, stating, “Our vision is not just about data or engineering; it is about problem-solving, flexibility, and tackling complex areas.” He also highlighted the importance of financial accessibility, adding, “Students should never feel that they don’t have a financial path. Our priority is to ensure that access and inclusion remain central at LUMS.”
HBL’s contributions extend beyond financial support. The bank has been an active partner in career development, working closely with the Career Services Office to recruit top talent from LUMS.
Speaking about the evolving needs of the job market, Mr. Salim said, “Training technical resources and ensuring real output that drives progress should be our focus. It is less about static learning and more about the collective journey.” He also praised the university’s efforts in advancing innovation and creating collaborative spaces for learning and growth.
