Samir Ahmed is Executive in Residence at the Suleman Dawood School of Business. He is a Financial Sector professional with more than 35 years of experience in Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Private Equity and Commercial Banking. He has worked in Pakistan, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific regions.
Samir was the founding CEO of Knightsbridge Capital Private Ltd, a Private Equity firm, from 2015-2022. Earlier he was the CEO of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Ltd, Pakistan’s first and only Derivatives Exchange, from 2009 to 2012. From 2004 to 2009 he was the CEO of IGI Investment Bank Ltd, at the time Pakistan’s largest Investment Bank and a listed company. Before that he served as the Managing Director of the Lahore Stock Exchange from 2001 to 2004. He was earlier engaged as Senior Advisor to Dubai Financial Market, on behalf of Government of Dubai from 1999 to 2001.
He is a certified Board Director and has served on the boards of various national level institutions including Pakistan Stock Exchange, Pakistan Mercantile Exchange, Pakistan Credit Rating Agency, Central Depositary Company of Pakistan and National Clearing Company of Pakistan.
Samir graduated with a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and did his Masters as a Sloan Fellow from London Business School.
