After graduation in 2006, I joined Lahore University of Management Sciences ((LUMS) as a Data Analyst and Manager. I spearheaded the establishment and subsequent management of a Data Resources Unit (DRU) at LUMS in 2006. Under DRU, I collected, managed, and provided primary and secondary data resources such as census, large household surveys and time series to researchers in user-friendly formats using SPSS, and STATA through DRU’s online repository. Equipped with this knowledge, not only did I facilitate students and LUMS faculty in their research, but also took tutorials of graduate and undergraduate level data-focused courses.
Being at the helm of all these activities allowed me to grasp the end-to-end data engineering process: from design to collection to consolidation and finally, analysis. I participated in projects led by World-Bank, UNICEF, UNDP, ACIAR and Pakistan’s national government and partook in activities pertaining to experiment design, data collection, cleaning and ultimately, its analyses.
