Dr Vito Morisco holds a PhD in Middle East Politics from the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS), University of Exeter. Before joining LUMS in September 2024, Dr Morisco completed an MA in Middle East and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter (UK) and an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of Siena (Italy).
He worked as an intern at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Germany and at the immigration office of the Italian Ministry of Interior. He also completed a Certificate in Terrorism Studies at the Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence (CSTPV), University of St. Andrews and a Certificate in Advanced Research Methods from the University of Oxford.
Dr Morisco studied Persian language at the University of Tehran, Arabic at the University of Jordan and currently he is an affiliated researcher at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs (oiip) in Vienna. His research interests include Islamist movements, Critical Security Studies and security governance in the Global South.
